Is There hope?

Hi,I am 29 years old, my husband and I have to use donor sperm (due to my husband medical condition)
I was ready to start the a treatment of IUI(by donor sperm)but doctor found a cyst on my right ovary. I did the lamparoscopy 2 weeks ago, and I have endometriosis STAGE 3. The doctor remove the cyst,he clean the ovary as much ashe could but he said there is some black spots still.
He also said I have two options, to start the treatment with IUI or take madications(contraceptives to clean endometriosis some more )
The doctor recomend IUI first, because the possibility of me getting pregnant after the lamparoscopy are there ,but the only way is knowing is by the IUI  (Because since my husband medical condition we are not able to know if we can get pregnant because he has no sperm, thats why we are using donor).
Doctor said he recommend, the IUI first instead of giving me so much medication.

NOW my question is:   should I do the IUI first or the endometriosis treatment to clean it a little more? when a women has endometriosis STAGE 3 does IUI work? or I should go  straight to IVF (Even though the doctor hasnt mention anything of IVF yet)? Do I have hope, do all women with endometriosis Stage 3 or 4 have the a good or great posibility of getting pregnant?
Thank you for listening

  1. Welcome to the blog world :). You will find lots of support here I am sure. I have a girlfriend with quite bad endometriosis (I'm not sure what level, but essentially her bladder and uterus were fusing together and she had had a few surgeries (laparascopies I believe) to fix this. She did get pregnant on her own twice, so I would say there is certainly a good chance! I think your chances are higher right after a procedure, so it is worth a shot! Good luck!

    1. Refer to Dr. Redwines web page, he's located in Bend, Oregon. You need a different specialist. Good luck!

  2. Hi... i'm here from Lola's blog and just wanted to send you love and support via blogging. So sorry to hear what you're going through.... I had endometriosis in my early 20's (removed via laparoscope) then went on to have a natural-ttc healthy pregnancy 4 years ago... but now have secondary IF, so doing IVF. Sorry... I'm not really sure about the answers to your questions... could you speak with your doctor again to get clear answers. I have a private blog, but happy for other IF'ers to join. My updater blog (to get links to my posts via Reader/RSS) is newyearmum2.blogspot.com... and you can email me at newyearmum@gmail.com to get an access link. Thinking of you and hope you get your answers soon xoxo

  3. Just stopping by to welcome you and say that I'm sorry that you are going through this. IF sucks, but you will find lots of support and answers to questions here among women who have been there (or who are there now). I can't help with your questions, as my diagnosis is different, but I can relate to the desire to be a mother and the sadness and frustration involved when your body is preventing that dream from coming true. Best of luck to you Gema! I wish you all the best and a natural, healthy pregnancy very soon!

  4. We are also trying to get pregnant and I had laproscopy surgery for Stage 1 endometrisosis recently. My dr told me that even though mine was mild if we do IVF (IUI won't work for us because of male factor issues) it is best to have optimum uterus conditions. Endometriosis can prevent the fertilized egg from attaching. Also, even after surgery the endometrisosi can come back. We only have a small window to either concieve on our own or do IVF. So my recommendation would be to talk with your dr. But if you planning to do all that is involved with IUI or IVF I would go with the medicine to give you the best chance for it to work.

  5. Hi Gema...found your blog through Lola and will be following along. Hope you follow mine as well. I too have endo (stage 2/3) and had the lap. I'm ttc on my own but dr suggested that we do IVF sooner rather than later. I'm scared to death. But I hope that IUI works for you, if it was covered under insurance I'd try it again.

  6. Hi Lola, welcome to blog land! I too have endo (stage 2/3) and recently had my second laparoscopy in February. I had endo in three places; behind my uterus, fusing my bladder and uterus as well as on my bowel. For now, I'm endo free! I just want to tell you that you are not alone and people with endo conceive all the time on their own (or in your case with IUI). If I were you I'd do the IUI before the medication, just because it has less of a chance of nasty symptoms and it's worth a try. If the first IUI does not work then I'd look into the medication or you could look at doing some natural methods to help. Please stop by my blog to read some more especially this post, we have a lot in common with the endo and male factor. I wish you the best of luck in whatever you chose! http://annabelle-isile.blogspot.ca/2011/04/path-id-never-thought-wed-facelong-post.html
